Productivity in the Bering Sea

I was all wrong about Sarah Palin, she does actually care about the economy. As Governor of Alaska she was willing to ask the Federal Government to invest significant resources into developing the productivity of one of Alaska's most important constituencies. According to the LA Times:

This year she submitted to Congress a list of Alaska projects worth $197.8 million, including $2 million to research crab productivity in the Bering Sea

Now, some condescending Washington elites might call that an "earmark" or wasteful government spending but don't fall for the bait. The cosmopolitan elites don't understand that the only way to improve Alaskan crab wages is by improving Alaskan crab productivity! And if it takes a new wave of leaders and some traditional trickle down supply side policies...so be it.
